Gallipolis City Park & Ohio Riverfront

Right in the heart of downtown Gallipolis, City Park is a great place to slow down and enjoy the river-town atmosphere. Take a walk through the park, check out the historic buildings surrounding it, then wander down toward the Ohio River for views of the water and the West Virginia hills across the way.

The park is also home to community events throughout the year and becomes especially popular during the Christmas season when Gallipolis in Lights fills the park with holiday displays.

It’s an easy stop to combine with downtown shopping, local restaurants, and several of Gallipolis’ historic attractions.

Ariel Opera House

The historic Ariel Opera House has been part of downtown Gallipolis since 1895 and is now home to the Ohio Valley Symphony. The beautifully restored theater hosts concerts, performances and special events throughout the year, making it a great stop for anyone who enjoys live music, historic architecture and the performing arts.

Located just one block from Gallipolis City Park, the Ariel is easy to include while exploring downtown. Be sure to check the event schedule before your visit — you may be able to catch a performance during your stay.
